04/03/26

On  Monday, I travelled to the academy to print out some riso prints and digital prints for the Playgrounds market. A pity i live so far, since the train ride takes most of the day.  But fine, I got 4 different prints completed.

I have still some other things to prep and print:

4 Tuesday, I began reworking the story and really only incuding things that i love.  Then i spent the rest of the day researching the hero’s journey. I found the videos in this series to be very informative:

I managed to get up until Tests, Allies and enemies. I’ll continue the rest as I go along.

Today:

Began splitting and thinking developments by page number like Puck and Nicholas mentioned.
Following the story structure of the hero’s journey.

Tomorrow, I’ll continue with this and begin a rough storyboard on Friday . Next week I plan to reach out to Herman from the research station at the academy for plot structure feedback.

Worked further on the page developments

And then read and began to study Hupo and the Wonderthief. Analysing the steps of the heros journey in the story.

then I spent some time in the library and came across  the picturebook Mighty Min. I loved the illustrations and also studied the structure of the story.

After I rewrote the beats of my story :

WEEK 5 OBSERVATION DRAWING:

Reflection:
This week, my positives are:
- I finally understand the structure of the Hero’s Journey and can see it in many books and films I consume.
-I find drawing people to be quite enjoyable now and believe i’m slowly improving.

The challenges:
-Rewriting the story for 4th time. I have a plot that flows and follows the hero’s journey but i do wonder if they are too derivitive of the media I’ve been studying. I also worry that the story is predictable.
